Drainage Systems

French Drains are one of the most effective tools in the drainage arsenal. Drains can be designed to pull both ground water as well as catch surface runoff. French drains can easily be fit into existing landscapes or custom designed into new ones. The greatest benefit of a French drain over others is that they require virtually no maintenance.

Catch Basin Drains are a good way to catch runoff from solid surfaces or in areas where water is ponding in confined spaces. These basins are best suited for concrete areas to avoid being blocked by grass cuttings and other debris.

Channel Drains are also an excellent method of water removal on solid surface where a large area requires drainage. The drains are used primarily in driveways, and parking areas to stop water from entering a garage or entry way. Channel drains can also be used inside garages and commercial/industrial applications.

Water Systems

Water Main Repair and Replacement. If your home was built before the mid 1960′s the water service line may be made of galvanized pipe which with age is susceptible to rusting through and causing a leak. If your home was built in the mid 1970’s and beyond then it is likely to be made of PVC, copper or polyethylene, which can be susceptible to damage by chemicals and shifting ground. A leaking water service can make for a costly water bill, and if left alone may cause damage to your yard or even your homes foundation. Yakima Water Solutions uses insulated PEX pipe (with tracer wire) bedded in sand as a modern replacement.

Chemical Injection Systems can include the tanks, pumps, and controls necessary to set up an effective residential chemical injection system. Typically, chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite (chlorine) and hydrogen peroxide are used for microbiological control. From time to time, other chemicals such as acetic acid or soda ash solution may be injected for pH control. We work to prevent backflow/cross contamination and safety hazards with chemical injection systems of all types.

Rain Water Harvesting (Collection Systems) for potable and non-potable applications. Rainwater harvesting systems can be as simple as directing gutters to a lidded garbage can or as complex as a concrete cistern, roof washer and filtration system. But whatever your application, rest assured that you’ll be getting some of the purest — and cheapest — water around. Rainwater can be used for potable water (drinking, cooking, bathing) or non-potable uses such as landscape irrigation, livestock watering and washing. Collecting and using rainwater has numerous benefits, ranging from improved water quality to reduced stress on underground aquifers.

Rainwater typically has very low hardness levels, which reduces the use of soaps and detergents, and eliminates the need for a water softener. Fewer minerals also saves wear and tear on your plumbing fixtures.

Stored rainwater also is a good standby in times of emergencies such as power outages or during periods of extreme drought when wells dry up. In some areas where water supplies may not be available or dependable (or may be prohibitively expensive), collected rainwater is sometimes the least expensive option and can easily be less expensive than bottled water. Rainwater harvesting reduces the impact on aquifers, lessening the demand on ecologically sensitive or threatened aquifers.
